Collection of Mescalero Apache Records

Lawrence Mehren, a historian, submitted his Master of Arts thesis on the Mescalero Apache to the Department of History at the University of Arizona in 1969.

The papers in this collection include two subgroups: Records of the Mescalero Apache Reservation and Related Source Documents. The records, in the form of microfilms, photoprints, and photocopies, include reports, census rolls, correspondence, photographs, muster rolls, and maps and plans from the National Archives and the Smithsonian Institution. The related source documents, in the form of a photocopied thesis as well as photocopies of primary and secondary source materials, are from the Denver Federal Records Center, the Arizona Historical Society, Eve Ball, Robert Mullin, other libraries, books, and magazines.
