Face Front: Music by Dorothy Heighton; Book and Lyrics by Katherine Ropes

University Red Cross

Dorothy Heighton Monro and her husband, Elbert C. Monro, attended the University of Arizona from 1917-1920. During her time as a student and in the years following, Dorothy Monro composed several pieces of music for the University including “Face Front” in 1917 for the benefit of the university branch of the Red Cross. Monro composed the music while Katherine Ropes, a fellow student, wrote the lyrics for the piece.

The collection has two volumes: vol. 1 contains original and printed score, and vol. 2 contains the typescript (carbon copy) of text. Additional materials include a program, photographs, clippings, and stage notes.
