Inauguration of Alfred Atkinson/University of Arizona

Congratulations from Phelps Dogde Vice-President

Alfred Atkinson was previously the president of Montana State College (now Montana State University) for 18 years before he became the University of Arizona’s president. He served as the 12th President of the University of Arizona from 1937 to 1947. After Atkinson's retirement, the Arizona board of regents appointed him executive advisor in budgetary and financial matters, a part-time position he held until July 1955 when he was made President Emeritus.

The collection consists of correspondence, invitations, programs, and a film of the inauguration of Alfred Atkinson as the 12th president of the University of Arizona.
