William Edgar Blake (1844-1915) was born in Morning Sun, Ohio, but was moved to Iowa in 1845. He served in the Civil War as a member of Company C of the First Iowa Cavalry. He later went on to study law at Iowa State University and earned his degree in 1869 and married his wife Sarah Lucretia Hurd. The collection includes a holograph manuscript which consists of a journal of a railway trip through New Mexico, Arizona, and Northern Mexico in 1883.William Edgar Blake (1844-1915) was born in Morning Sun, OH, but was moved to Iowa in 1845.
