Marriage Records

Pedro Font was a Franciscan missionary and chaplain of the Anza Expedition who left Horcasitas, Sonora, Sept. 29, 1775, and resulted in the founding of Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) the following March.

This collection includes a holograph record of three marriages performed by Father Pedro Font at Mission San Xavier del Bac on October 26, 1775, while chaplain of the expedition under the command of Juan Bautista de Anza. Those married were Ignacio de Higuera to Maria Michaela Bojorques, Tiburcio Vasquez to Maria Antonia Bojorques, and Gregorio Antonio Sandoval to Maria Dolores Ontiveros. Also includes a holograph manuscript in Spanish, accompanied by English translation, notes relating to the participants, and certification form of the Historical Records Survey of the U.S. Works Progress Administration. Materials are in Spanish with English translation.
