The Documented Border

Exhibition

Sketch by Lawrence Gipe of a Court Proceeding

The Documented Border exhibition will include a selection of audio interviews with reporters discussing difficulties in reporting in the US-Mexico borderlands conducted by UA Associate Professor Celeste Gonzalez De Bustamante and UA Assistant Professor Jeannine Relly. The exhibition will also include illustrations donated by Artist and UA Associate Professor Lawrence Gipe of "Operation Streamline" proceedings created in courts and detention facilities where photography is prohibited.

This exhibition is planned in conjunction with The Documented Border: An Open Access Digital Archive, an effort dedicated to providing access to images, oral histories and other research efforts regarding the US-Mexico border. Its aim is to advance the understanding and awareness of the border and its people. Initial contributions to the archive will include audio interviews with border reporters and illustrations of Operation Streamline proceedings. Please note that some of the audiovisual content in our digital exhibits will be temporarily unavailable as we prepare to migrate it to a new platform.

Please join us for The Documented Border exhibition opening reception and talk by award winning author, Luis Alberto Urrea, on Wednesday, October 8 at 6:30 pm.
