Account Book of the Old Abe Co.

The Old Abe mine, in White Oaks, NM, produced a million dollars worth of gold from one of the deepest dry mines in the world. Its true vein was discovered in 1890 by William Watson, who shared ownership with seven other people who are named in the back of the account book.

The collection consists of one volume and lists dividends, expenses and receipts from 1890-1891. It is accompanied by photocopies of five articles from the Lincoln County (N.M.) News, from 1956-1958, relating the history of the mine and the area.
