William Ellery Channing, II (1818-1901) was an American Transcendentalist poet and essayist. Known professionally as Ellery Channing, he was the nephew of the Unitarian minister and author Dr. William Ellery Channing (1780-1842), and younger brother of William Henry Channing (1810-1884), also a Unitarian minister and writer.

The collection includes an undated holographic manuscript of a three act comedy signed by a W. E. Channing. The manuscript is written in ink and contains his edits. The play, an adaptation from a French work, is set in Paris and concerns a young widow and her son.
