Charles Herner papers

Rough Riders Group Photograph

This collection contains research files covering the life and histories surrounding Alexander O. Brodie and the Rough Riders of Arizona. Rough Riders was the name given to the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, a response to the understaffing of the United States Army as a result of the American Civil War and it was only one of three volunteer regiments to see action. The majority of files are made up of photocopied newspaper articles and headlines, military muster rolls, and correspondence with institutions regarding research materials gathered. Additionally, some personal papers, correspondence and photographs are included as well as microfilms and slides.
