Correspondence of David F. Brinegar

David F. Brinegar was a newspaperman, managing editor of the Arizona Times, Phoenix, AZ, 1946 to 1948, later executive editor of the Arizona Daily Star.

 

Collection includes correspondence and other material pertaining to the establishment and operation of the Arizona Times, a Phoenix newspaper published by Anna Roosevelt and her husband, John Boettiger, from June, 1946 to Oct. 5, 1949. Additionally, it includes letters between the Boettigers and managing editor Brinegar; photograph of the Times staff; an autographed first issue of the Arizona Times; an account of a press conference held by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in June 1941; and two addresses given by Brinegar in 1947: one about the Times and his war experiences, and one on journalism and the newspaper business.
