Sister Monica was a member of the party of Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet and traveled to Tucson, AZ to establish St. Joseph's Convent. Later she established St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson.

This collection consists of a diary of her railway and stagecoach journey from St. Louis, MO. to Tucson, April 21, 1870-May 26, 1870, with Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. In 1948 it was published in part as The Trek of the Seven Sisters.
