Diary of Thomas Akers

Thomas Akers served as a U.S. Army Private during the US Civil War and served in Company B of the 5th Infantry for the California Volunteers. The collection contains a holograph diary of Aker’s Civil War service from his swearing in at Sacramento, CA, Oct. 8, 1861 to May 15, 1864. Several pages are missing until a notation on Dec. 6, 1864 when he was mustered out, then a record of trip from Franklin, TX to Sacramento, Nov. 6, 1865 to Dec. 6, 1865.
