Dust of the Desert; Plain Tales of the Desert and the Border, ca. 1936

Jack Weadock (1899-1970) was a soldier for the U.S. Army Cavalry, author, and newspaperman working for the Arizona Daily Star from 1923 to 1969. At the Star, Weadock worked in various positions, including sports editor, top reporter, managing editor, executive editor, and assistant publisher. Most notably, Weadock was the writer behind the weekly column “Desert Notebook.” Included in the collection are Jack Weadock’s original typescript and revisions for his book, Dust of the Desert, as well as a printer’s copy and galley proofs. The book is a collection of Weadock's weekly columns relating incidents of Arizona history.
