Jessie Esther Rae (1896-1984) was originally from Vail, AZ. She graduated from Tucson High School in 1915 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in history from the University of Arizona in 1919. She was very involved in campus life, with activities ranging from membership in the Beta Delta chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, to playing basketball and tennis. She served as secretary for the Women's Self Government from 1918-1919, the Junior Class from 1917-1918, and in the University's House of Representatives in 1915, 1916, 1917, and 1919. She was a member of the Y.W.C.A, the Women's League, and the Sock and Buskin Club, and she performed in several plays during her time at the University of Arizona. Jessie married her husband, Guy Monthan, on August 2, 1919.

Her collection is comprised of a photo album containing pictures of herself and fellow students at the University of Arizona between the years 1915-1919, with a few photos from up to 1921. These photos were compiled by Rae’s granddaughter, Margaret Rae Monthan.
