Joseph E. Howard Papers

Joseph E. Howard in suit with tails holding top hat and cane.

Joseph E. Howard (1878-1961) was a skilled composer and vaudevillian. In addition to “Hello! My Baby” (1899), Howard’s most well-known songs include “Goodbye My Lady Love” (1904), and “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now” (1909).

This collection contains sheet music written by Howard, as well as correspondence and press documenting his long life as a vaudevillian and public performer. It includes his 1956 autobiography, Gay Nineties Troubadour, as well as photographs of Howard, his family, and other performers.
