The Mark of a Man

Draft of The Mark of a Man with Author's Notes

Francis Marion Whiting, born 1911 in Chihuahua, Mexico, was a scientist and a teacher in Pima County, AZ.

The story behind the collection is based on a tape recording of Francis Whiting Sr.'s recollections in 1964. The collection includes a bound typescript relating stories of the Charles Whiting family and their descendants; mainly concerning their experiences as Mormon pioneers helping to establish colonies in Chihuahua between 1885 and 1908. The family history information extends from 1876 to 1955, but later years are covered very briefly.
