Max L.M. Boone (1931-1996), MD, PhD, was a medical doctor, physicist, and one of the founders of the University of Arizona Cancer Center. In the early 1970s, Boone and Eugene Gerner, a UA professor of radiation/oncology, pioneered hyperthermia—the use of heat to kill cancer cells—for which he received a gold medal of the International Clinical Hyperthermia Society. The papers in this collection include professional research, publications, abstracts, correspondence, and associated photographs and figures.
