Papers of Frances Gillmor

Frances Gillmor was a folklorist, writer, educator, and University of Arizona professor, 1934-1973. Collection includes biographical materials, diaries, correspondence, research materials, published and unpublished manuscripts and articles, slides, photographs, and audio tapes.

The collection documents Gillmor's literary pursuits, scholarly activities and her wide ranging research in folklore. Correspondents include Ola and Georg Apenes, Albert William Bork, R.S. Boggs, J. Frank Dobie, Henry F. Dobyns, Wayland Hand, Fernando Horcasitas, and others. The collection includes several unpublished manuscripts and early drafts of her published works, research notes and visual materials documenting her work on folk drama and folklore in Mexico and Spain.
