The Social Fundamentals, an Orientation Course Required for all Freshman Women, was taught originally by members of the Dean's Office, and the Dept. of Home Economics and Physical Education. Evelyn J. Kirmse served as Dean from 1929-1947.

The collection includes lecture schedules, examination questions, correspondence, historical notes and related items of a course given from 1931 to 1951, covering social etiquette and relationships, health, nutrition, clothing selection, attitudes, values and vocational options.
