Six Shooter's Who's Who

Research Card for Chris Evans, circa 1950

Guy J. Giffen was a California author and local historian.

In this collection is an unpublished typescript of Giffen's bibliography of western badmen and peace officers active from 1865 through the 1890s. The typescript lists 362 outlaws/peace officers with approximately 12,300 references. Each person has a brief history followed by citation references. Some of those mentioned in Arizona are Burt Alvord, Apache Kid, William Brocius, the Clanton gang, the Earp brothers, Tom Ketchum, Pete Kitchen, Perry Owens, John Ringo, John Slaughter, and Henry Wheeler. The references date from the 1920s through the 1940s. Also present are sections of women outlaws, gangs, feuds, and a list by title of each reference used.
