Stirrup high, [1956]

Title Page of Stirrup High Manuscript, 1956

Walt Coburn (1889-1971) was a Western American novelist. Coburn served briefly in Pancho Villa’s army and then worked as a cowboy and surveyor in Arizona before becoming a freelance writer.

The collection contains a typescript manuscript with holograph corrections and edits of the juvenile novel, Stirrup High. The autobiographical story is about 14-year-old Walt spending the summer as a working cowboy on his father's Montana ranch.
