Compensation Slip Issued to Belle Smith, May, 1884

Judge Isaac Parker presided as U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas from 1875-1895. He earned a reputation as the "hanging judge."

The collection includes jury summons, lists of jurors, travel and service expense vouchers for serving warrants, abstracts of compensation to posse members and witnesses, certificates of employment on guard duty, receipts for payment of board, lodging and travel, and an indictment for treason, United States vs. Jackson Yearton (1865). The materials also include a typescript (copy) titled "Isaac C. Parker," concerning his career as judge for this district court.
