Pantry Meals

“Pantry Meals” is a project by Daniela Torres Cirina which aims to highlight UA Pantry as a valuable resource for students, and specially international students, where one can get access to weekly essentials to fight food insecurity. The creators tried to be as creative as possible with the resources provided by UA Pantry while focusing on highlighting recipes native from our cultures/countries (India and Spain) as a means to show the diversity present at University of Arizona, and to pass on these recipes to a wider spectrum of people that share an interest in food.

About the Artist

Daniela Torres Cirina is a Ph.D student in the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching graduate interdisciplinary program at the University of Arizona. She earned a B.A. in Hispanic Philology from the University of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and a M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics at the Department Spanish and Portuguese of the University of Arizona where she has taught Spanish courses to second language learners and heritage learners of Spanish.

As a native speaker of Spanish and Catalan, she is passionate about languages and cultures, and the opportunity to learn from and teach to heritage speakers of Spanish, mostly first-generation Hispanic students, has inspired her to recognise and share her experiences as a first generation peer and multicultural individual, who lived her childhood in Venezuela and which her family left, her adolescence in Barcelona, and her adulthood at the USA.
