Juan Carlos Gutierrez, abogado, profesor universitario, y ex-director de El Centro por la Justicia y el Derecho Internacional (Cejil), habla sobre el "mecanismo," un grupo de expertos y personas del sector civil dedicado a la investigación de violaciones de derechos humanos y que mantienen vigente la conversación sobre casos de impunidad y agresión contra periodistas y otras poblaciones bajo riesgo. Gutierrez acepta las críticas en contra del movimiento, pero insiste en su buena labor, aunque con margen para mejoras. Gutierrez evalúa el trabajo de los medios de comunicación, de entidades como la Fiscalía Especial, y de organizaciones como Freedom House.
