Interview with Ricardo Trotti

Journalist and artist, Ricardo Trotti discusses the challenges in stopping the violence against journalists and enforcing the freedom of expression and press. As director of the Press Freedom of the Inter American Press Association, Trotti discusses the lack of unity and funding that organizations are currently enduring in Mexico. Various organizations are fighting for their own agendas as well as competing for funding to continue with their operations. In addition to the lacking security, the media and journalists also lack training and professional development.

Ricardo Trotti, periodista y artista, discute los desafíos que conlleva el paro de la violencia contra periodistas y contra la libertad de expresión y de la prensa. Como director de Libertad de Prensa en la Asociación Interamericana de Prensa, Trotti describe la falta de unidad y fondos que actualmente acosan a organizaciones en México. Diversas organizaciones pelean por su propia agenda y compiten por las mismas fuentes de ingresos que les ayuda a continuar con sus operaciones. Encima de la falta de seguridad, los medios de comunicación y periodistas carecen de entrenamiento, educación y profesionalización de sus trabajos.
