Interview with Cesar Barron

A crime reporter with Nogales radio station XENY (AM 760), César Barrón talks about the type of stories that he focuses on, the challenges faced by reporters in Mexico, and the effects that violence reporting has on members of his profession. Barron warns of the importance of retaining the capacity to be surprised and empathetic to the suffering of others. He touches on the differences in professional experience based on gender, the use of social networks, and the many opportunities for learning and growth that a journalism student can gain by working in the border.

Reportero con Radio XENY (AM 760), César Barrón relata el tipo de historias que cubre, los desafíos a los que se enfrentan reporteros en México, y el efecto que la cobertura de la violencia tiene en los miembros de la prensa. Barron advierte de lo importante que es no perder la capacidad de asombro ni la sensibilidadante ante el sufrimiento del prójimo. Habla también de las diferencias en experiencia profesional entre hombres y mujeres reporteros, el uso profesional de redes sociales, y sobre las oportunidades de aprendizaje que se encuentran en frontera desde el punto de vista periodístico.
